Flowmeter
Flowmeter in short
Borne out of experience in racing and those seeking the best. This is
no approximate job but one carried out with concrete numbers and the guarantee of results. Managed by
technicians under technical supervision so as to have certain data which can be found on the
test bench once the preparation work on the head and any thermal group subjected to the passage
of gas is finished (2 stroke, 4 stroke, diesel, carburetors, etc.). It has a hardware and software
system of first rank complying with EEC norms and a 1-year warrant.
The flowmeter in the photos is specific equipment for sale to preparing and
technical mechanics in the car and motorbike sectors.
Il Flussometro (Flow Bench): cos'è
The flow bench is the instrument for measuring flow in its quantitative aspects: volume and speed,
guaranteeing a critical-construction analysis of the fluid dynamics which regard the development
of power which would otherwise be the realm of anachronistic ideas more fit for witch doctors than
serious preparers.
With this instrument the initial values of various thermal groups can be read (4t heads, 2t cylinders)
and after that, after the appropriate intervention the results can be read and alternatives can be explored
to further improve performance. Finally it allows one to hypothesize performance (rather accurately) which
a particular apparatus may reach. All before the engine is even assembled.
The immense advantage which this measuring and analysis instrument provides, consists in having a first
rate technical approach, thanks to the individuation of sonic areas (in which faster than sound speeds can be
reached) or areas of stalling (where on the contrary there is stagnation, no speed), at this point the Pitot tube
and differential manometers will provide certain data.
Appropriate hardware and software support will accelerate reading times and guarantee the continuity and
repetitiveness of results.
The flowmeter can test valves, conducts, valve seats, profiles, lifts, etc. Making the preparation work faster
and more certain.
dimensional mesurements:
In full accord with the flow bench often moulds are used, made out of silicone rubber so as to find any defects:
in the design of conducts, in shape, or “hidden” height variations difficult to see with the naked
eye. Thanks to this work method the possibility of ending up on the water or outside is reduced to a minimum.
The two superimposed work methods make sense once the preparation work is finished, when one reaches the test
bench where calculations, like experimentation, become a certainty, concrete and tangible in a reading of
performance reached on the test bench.
